Wes Campbell of TTI-Blakemore Dead at 65

Wes Campbell, president of TTI-Blakemore, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019, from natural causes. He was 65 years old. Campbell was an industry leader and an inspiration and mentor to many. His father, John Campbell, invented the Tru-Turn hook in 1958, and Wes continued his father’s tradition of helping others catch fish for over 45 years.

Campbell was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1954. He attended Troy State University in Montgomery, Alabama, on a golf scholarship and earned a degree in business in 1976.

“Wes was a brother to me,” said Ron Stallings, Director of Sales and Marketing for TTI-Blakemore. “He’ll always be with me in my heart and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Wes never met a stranger, and always exemplified Christian values. Our industry lost an icon, leader, friend and brother.”

Campbell’s love and passion for other people’s well-being stemmed from his love of God, family and church. Known for his gift of gab, he lightened hearts with a quick joke or Bible quote and always put himself after friends and family. He was awarded the Christ for King medal from the Catholic church for his dedication to community and church.

Campbell is survived by his wife Kerry, son Ryon, daughter Taira, and his brothers Steve and Johnny.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Campbell’s name to one of his favorite charities—St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Parish in Tallassee, Alabama, the Future Fisherman Foundation or K9s for Warriors.
