Webinar: Preparing for Potential Tariff Refunds

The Supreme Court will soon decide whether certain tariffs imposed by President Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) are legal. If struck down, ASA members could be eligible for refunds on duties paid, but only if the right steps are taken now.

To help you prepare, ASA has invited leading international and domestic trade law attorneys with deep experience in customs procedures and trade compliance to walk members through the proactive actions you should take – such as extending liquidation of entries and ensuring direct access to ACE – to protect your refund eligibility.

South Atlantic States Unveil Road Map to Red Snapper Management

After a year-long, intensive information gathering process, the directors of the state marine fisheries agencies from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina have released the outline for state-based recreational data gathering and management of South Atlantic red snapper.

In a joint letter and Action Plan signed by all four state agency representatives to the House South Atlantic Red Snapper Task Force, the states acknowledge that inadequate data combined with a “one-sized fits all management approach” hinders access to the resource. In response, the states propose state data collection programs and improved management of the recreational red snapper fishery to provide greater responsiveness, flexibility and access.

ASMFC Proposes New Seasonal Closures for Striped Bass

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission has proposed a 12% reduction for the recreational sector, which is likely to take the form of “no targeting” closures, which prohibit anglers from fishing for striped bass altogether, whether harvesting fish or practicing catch-and-release. These new seasonal closures lack scientific justification – fishing mortality is at a 30-year low thanks to slot limits and strict seasons already in place.

The time to speak up is now! Click the link below and tell the ASMFC to oppose unnecessary closures and protect access for recreational striped bass fishing.
