There is no question that effective fish and wildlife management requires meaningful interaction with all segments of society, not just the people who buy hunting and fishing licenses. How much does the public, especially those who don’t hunt, fish, or enjoy wildlife, know about fish and wildlife agencies? Are they aware of their state agencies’ efforts, responsibilities, and funding sources? We’ll share key findings and recommendations from completed Multi-State Conservation Grant-funded public perceptions work within the Southeast and current efforts in the Midwest. We’ll highlight the importance of staying relevant, fostering engagement, and cultivating support for conservation through broad public engagement. The conversation will wrap up with opportunities for applying this learning to our R3 business practices and open Q&A.
