Okuma Fishing Tackle Welcomes Adam Deakin To Pro Staff

Okuma Fishing Tackle is proud to announce a new partnership with western tournament angler, podcast host, and content creator Adam Deakin, further strengthening Okuma’s commitment to performance-driven innovation and growth within the bass fishing community.

Deakin, a partner in the Serious Angler Podcast Network, has built a reputation as a dedicated competitor and storyteller within the fishing industry. Known for his passion for highlighting western fisheries and tournament anglers, Deakin brings a unique blend of competitive experience and media presence to the Okuma team.

“I’m passionate about competing at a high level, growing the sport, and helping bring more attention to western fisheries and the stories behind the fishing industry,” said Deakin.

Deakin’s journey in fishing began at a young age, learning from his grandfather and father while catching bluegill at a local pond. That early introduction quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit, evolving into competitive bass fishing, leadership roles, and content creation. He served as President of the Colorado State University Bass Fishing Team and has since competed nationally at the Toyota Series and Bassmaster Open level.

Among his accomplishments are Top 10 finishes at the BAM Super 60 and Pro-Am level, as well as a standout performance leading Day One of the BAM Don Pedro Pro-Am with 22.12 pounds, highlighted by a 10.02-pound personal best, earning recognition from Bass Angler Magazine

“Adam represents the next generation of anglers who are not only competing at a high level but also helping grow the sport through storytelling and authentic content,” said Michelle Gandola, Director of Marketing for Okuma Fishing Tackle. “His passion for western fisheries and technical bass fishing aligns perfectly with our vision for the future.”

Deakin will be utilizing Okuma’s expanding lineup of bass-focused products, including the X-Series rods and reels, which he noted for their lightweight design, sensitivity, and overall performance.

“What excites me most is aligning with a brand that is serious about performance, innovation, and growing its presence in the bass fishing space,” Deakin added. “I’m excited to put this gear to work in real tournament situations and showcase how it performs across western fisheries and competitive bass fishing.”

Through this partnership, Deakin will focus on tournament competition, educational content, and behind-the-scenes storytelling, highlighting real-world applications of Okuma gear. His content will include rig breakdowns, tournament recaps, technique-driven videos, and insights into evolving methods such as finesse fishing and forward-facing sonar applications.

“This partnership allows me to create more intentional and valuable content while representing a company I’m proud to be associated with,” said Deakin. “It gives me the ability to connect anglers with the right tools and show how they perform in real competitive environments.”

As Okuma continues to expand its presence in bass fishing, partnerships with driven anglers like Adam Deakin play a key role in connecting innovation with on-the-water performance.
