Eight thousand ladies from all over the country, teen gals to seniors, have united at LLGF award-winning fishing universities to learn fishing. Open to the public, the women’s fishing University series encourages women to enter the sports of fishing and boating by providing a fun, non-intimidating atmosphere for women to learn.

Year after year, participants praise the program and share the experience with fellow female anglers. “I learned more there than I have learned in years from my husband – It would have been worth triple the price!” said Nicole Kristman, Cocoa Beach, FL.

With the latest Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation data indicating women now represent more than 47% of those interested in fishing, these programs serve an important role to attract and retain new fishing participants.

Featured in USA Today, Inside Edition, The Today Show and more, the series is supported by partners such as Mercury Outboards, Ranger Boats, Minn Kota, Humminbird. Magic Tilt Trailers and more.

Typical events include instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking parties, meals at certain venues, goody bags and more. Charter fishing is additional. In the works are expansion of local chapters and international fishing adventures. Some events offer social fishing memberships.
