Big Rock’s North American Taxidermy Championship Breaks Attendance Record

Graham, NC — Big Rock Sports, LLC announced that its 2015 North American Taxidermy Championship broke attendance records for the third straight year. Held at the annual Big Rock Sports East Show in Raleigh, NC from January 8–11, the competition saw twice the number of amateur and professional taxidermists and taxidermy fans as compared to last year.

The third rendition of the North American Taxidermy Championship featured four days of competition and seminars for taxidermists. The event was led by the team from Head Quarters Taxidermy Supply, a Big Rock Sports company.

“The championship offers all people interested in taxidermy the chance to see what is happening in the industry—what artists are working on, new techniques, new manikins and new ways to create exciting mounts,” said Jeremy Morgan, Vice President of Head Quarters Taxidermy Supply.

Over $12,000 in cash, prizes and awards were given out. Competition entries increased more than 25 percent versus 2014, with taxidermists from across North America showcasing their work.

“We came all the way from Canada to be part of the Taxidermy Championship,” stated taxidermist Darren Carter. “We wanted to see what’s out there, to learn and bring back new ideas for our customers.”

Renowned taxidermists, including Gene Smith, Aaron Connelly and Vic Heincker led instructional seminars, while mounts were judged by a lineup of world champion taxidermists.

Entries were organized in five divisions: Youth, Amateur, Professional, Master’s and Dealer’s Choice.
