What’s New in Saltwater Rods, Reels, and Combos

Saltwater angling is a brutal place for rods and reels. The environment does its best to corrode, oxidize, clog, and grind down your favorite setup, while the fish themselves will punish any weakness and destroy inferior gear. Making the best choice, especially when you’re on a budget, is extremely important not only in being more efficient and standing up to the conditions and the fish, but also in having the most fun. Constantly worrying about whether your rod and reel is going to be able to handle what you’re throwing at it really takes the enjoyment out of any trip, so it’s best to pick up a dedicated, specific saltwater rod, reel, or combo for the job. The good news is today’s saltwater tackle offers exceptional durability, strength, and efficiency at ever-decreasing prices—there is a remarkable amount of budget-friendly gear available today that was unheard of just a few years ago. And if you are stepping up to the very highest level of gear, there’s a whole host of new rods and reels available at that end, too—more than ever before.

Daiwa

Blackline Inshore Rods feature premium cork handles, FUJI K- guide train, Daiwa Air Sensor reel seat on spinning models, and Daiwa’s exclusive SVF Super High-Modulus Low Resin Carbon Graphite as well as Braiding X Daiwa technology for greater sensitivity and strength and improves rod velocity during the cast to improve accuracy and distance. There are five spinning rod models from 7- to 7-foot, 10-inches designed to cover all the bases up to 6-ounce lures, and a 7 foot, 6-inch conventional rod that is versatile, but targeted specifically at the fluke and flounder angler. Okuma

Star Rods
