Allerød, Denmark— After back-to-back all-star performances at ICAST, European lure pioneer Westin is returning to Orlando with a pair of new products that are sure to make a splash with freshwater anglers across the United States. Well before the show, they’ve given FTR a first look under the hood of a groundbreaking wakebait and a hollow body topwater bait.

“Danny the Duck, Shad Teez, Baby Bite, and the Hypo Teez Glide Bait that was introduced at ICAST 2017, are selling very well,” says Barry Stockhaus, Westin’s North American general sales manager. “The demand for those products in the freshwater market has been tremendous, and because of that we’ve decided to add two more freshwater products this year.”

According to Stockhuas, Westin hasn’t just been making the rounds at ICAST. Their presence has been felt at Big Rock Sports dealer shows across the country this year, and they have worked hand-in-hand with Big Rock’s sales staff to pinpoint products perfect for each retailer. “The dealers in attendance have been thrilled with the current products, and engaged with the lineup,” adds Stockhaus. “They’ve often visited the Westin booth with their Big Rock sales person alongside them.”

That attention to detail and dealer education has led to a groundswell of popularity for Westin, as it prepares to launch these two new phenomenal freshwater fishing lures:

Freddy the Frog Wakebait

In France, frog legs are a delicacy, and on Westin’s latest lure creation, frogs are a work of art.

Freddy the Frog comes hopping onto the scene as a new favorite top water bait, with a crazy, crawling action and those lifelike legs that will stir curiosity in the most cautious of predator fish. Freddy’s body is 3 1/2″ in length, with the free-moving, jointed legs taking his total length to 7 1/4″ making him a versatile snack for predators of all kinds who hunt on the surface, including big mean bass. His sexy moves on the surface are complemented by a glass rattle stick with internal steel balls that announce to every predator within the vicinity that frog is back on the menu. Just a simple cast-and retrieve method will bring some incredible surface action. Westin spent a long time perfecting the action of this lure, and then perfected the lure with a great hook-up ratio and a range of realistic and detailed colorings and patterns. Freddy is ready to take on the big predators of any water.

Swim Hollowbody

What happens when you combine one of Westin’s most versatile and well-loved lure shapes and make it a hollow topwater lure? NON. STOP. ACTION. That’s what! Swim Hollowbody is packed with features – like a weedless design, an attractive silicone skirt, and hand-painted details – and is so easy to fish, even your worst fishing buddy will have success with it. Swim is easy to fish with a simple walk-the-dog retrieve right on the surface. You can also jerk it down below the surface – keep good line tension and work with your rod to create an erratic swimming pattern.

The Swim Hollowbody benefits from a custom-made rubber ring designed to stop water entering the hollowbody – eliminating one of the most common frustrations with this type of lure. This Swim may be soft, but he’s tough and he’s ready to rumble with monster bass and other predators around.
