Take Action: Oppose Public Land Sales in Senate Budget Reconciliation

The U.S. Senate is considering a proposal that would force the sale of millions of acres of public land. Provisions in the Senate’s budget reconciliation bill call for federal agencies to sell off between 2 and 3 million acres, threatening public access to lands and waters across 11 Western states. These provisions would bypass the transparent, established process that ensures public input and that any land sales benefit conservation efforts.

Urge your Senators to reject this harmful language and protect our public lands. Click the link below to make your voice heard.

ASA Joins Outdoor Recreation Industry in Funding Request for Outdoor Recreation Satellite Accounts

ASA joined the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable and almost three dozen outdoor recreation organizations in urging Congress to continue funding the Outdoor Recreation Satellite Accounts at the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The most recent data from the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that outdoor recreation generated $1.2 trillion and 5 million American jobs in 2022, comprising 2.3% of the nation’s economy and 3.1% of all employees in the country.

The outdoor recreation economy relies on this data as do Governors, Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle, land management agencies and others across state, local, and federal governments.
