ASA Testifies Before Congress on Marine Mammal Predation in the Pacific Northwest

Last week, ASA’s Pacific Fisheries Policy Director, Larry Phillips, testified before the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries. Mr. Phillips emphasized the recreational fishing industry’s concerns with the detrimental impacts sea lions are having on salmon and steelhead populations in the Pacific Northwest.

ASA Joins Coalition Support Letter for Fix Our Forests Act

Last week, a coalition of America’s anglers, hunters, forest industry, state forestry agencies, and other conservation organizations sent a letter to the U.S. Senate in support of the Fix Our Forests Act.

Enhancing forest health through active management is vital for increasing resilience to wildfires, and the Fix Our Forests Act allows land managers to accelerate landscape-level forest restoration efforts to lower wildfire risk by expanding collaborative tools, simplifying processes, and encouraging cross-boundary management and coordination among federal agencies and state, Tribal, and local governments.

The House companion passed the chamber in January of this year. Click below to read the full letter.
