WAYNESBORO, VIRGINIA and CRAIGMORE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA – Today, Tycoon Tackle, Inc. and Saltwater Fly Workshop (SWFW) announced that Tycoon Tackle, Inc. will become a distributor for SWFW in the United States. SWFW offers a broad selection of flies designed to lure fish in all of the oceans of the world.
Scotty Sparnon founded and established Saltwater Fly Workshop in 1993. When he was fifteen-years old, Scotty took up fly-fishing while visiting family friends in Ballarat, Victoria. There, Scotty met Jim Allen, owner of Compleat Angler, Melbourne and after this chance encounter, Scotty went onto tie saltwater flies for Compleat Angler. By the age of eighteen, Scotty began guiding out of the Drysdale River in the Kimberly through his company, Drysdale Floatplane Fishing Safaris out of Kununnura, Western Australia.
For more than two decades, Scotty developed an impressive career fishing at National Tournament Level, earning many accolades. He is a seasoned and well-travelled angler, guide, and skilled fly tyer. His skill is highly regarded in the fishing community as evidenced by SWFW providing his tying flies for the likes of Dean Butler, Rod Harrison, Peter Morse, and many other Professional Anglers and Professional Fishing Guides across the globe.
Saltwater Fly Workshop specializes in producing innovative saltwater fly patterns as well as the well-known old school favorites. To further expand the SWFW line, Sparnon teamed with world-class sportfishing specialist Dean Butler to design and produce the “Ultimate Flashy Profile Billfish Flies,” designed for oceans across the world.
Tycoon Tackle will maintain a stock of flies made by SWFW in their Virginia warehouse for ease of shipping to the United States and Caribbean Basin. Further, Tycoon Tackle will assemble for sale certain “signature” collections of the SWFW flies, as well.
Capt. Rufus Wakeman, a world renown angler from Jensen Beach, Florida, said, “I travel the world fly fishing for all types of species and I have been, and will continue to, buy flies made by Scotty and Frankie at the Saltwater Fly Workshop. They are some of the best I’ve seen and they will be a great addition to the Tycoon Tackle lineup…Congratulations on this great partnership and tight lines to all in the future.”
Scotty Sparnon, Owner and founder of Saltwater Fly Workshop said, “Here, at SWFW we have used the knowledge of some of the best fly anglers and guides around the globe to create and master a selection of proven saltwater fly patterns. Equipped with this knowledge we have been able to use this information in the design, development and tying processes to be able to create various standout patterns that target a broad range of species. SWFW fly patterns are tied to perform which gives the angler the confidence that they need while fly-fishing the salt. SWFW fly patterns combined with Tycoon Tackle’s elite range of fly fishing rod lines will ensure you have some of the best fly tackle on the market.”
