Steve Campbell, vice president of TTI-Blakemore, died on April 16, 2020. He was 62 years old.

Campbell was born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1957. His father, John, invented the Tru-Turn hook a year later. Along with Steve’s brother, Wes, they built TTI-Blakemore into a tackle leader with products in virtually every retail outlet in America.

Steve served the company and the industry for 40 years.

“Even though he was the vice president,” said Ron Stallings, Director of Sales and Marketing for TTI-Blakemore, “Steve was also in charge of procurement. He got all the pieces and parts to Road Runners and other lures—the packaging, the hooks and anything else that was required to make product. It was a very demanding and time-consuming job, but he did it with grace and humor.”

Campbell’s love for fishing and the industry was reflected in his commitment to help others catch fish and to keep children involved in the outdoors. He worked numerous events to help underprivileged and disabled children.

“To know Steve was to love him,” Stallings said. “He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known. You knew he was in the room when it filled with laughter. I sure will miss him.”

Campbell is survived by his daughter Michelle, son Michael and seven grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Harbor at Lake Martin, 1 Our Children’s Way, Alexander City, Alabama 35010.
