IRVINE, Calif.— Designed around Shimano’s Hagane concept and the tackle manufacturer’s cold-forging expertise, the new Stradic FK spinning reels took top honors as the ‘Best Freshwater Reel’ at the 2015 ICAST Show. Voted on by attending tackle dealers, buyers and fishing/outdoor-related media, the Stradic FK joins a long list of Shimano reels winning an ICAST New Product Showcase award – the company has now taken home the award 11 times since 2002.
Within the Stradic FK series – offered in ST-1000HG, ST-25000HG, ST-C3000HG, ST-4000XG and ST-C5000XG models, Shimano’s Hagane design concept creates a fishing reel that will exceed the demands of hardcore fishing use and hardcore anglers. The reels provide the needed smoothness and durability for freshwater species, including bass, walleye, trout and steelhead, and also for many inshore saltwater pursuits, including redfish, bonefish and sea trout.
“With Hagane, anglers can focus strictly on their passion for fishing, and can rely on Shimano cold-forging and precise gear cutting technology for a spinning reel that will perform as needed,” said Chris Hess with Shimano’s product development team. “Then we bring anglers even more with CoreProtect, providing water resistance without affecting rotation feeling and sealing key areas to prevent any water intrusion. With the new Stradic FK reels, we’re able to showcase Shimano’s manufacturing capabilities.”
Tackle dealers and the fishing media have a special fondness for Shimano’s Stradic spinning reels. When introduced in 2007, the Stradic F series took the ICAST ‘Best Freshwater Reel’ award, while the Stradic CI4+ reels won in 2009.
