ETTRICK, WI – Lure Lock, makers of the revolutionary tackle box system featuring their patented Tak Logic Gel technology, sat down with pro team member Michael Neal to discuss how he keeps his gear organized while fishing two different tournament circuits. Neal is currently leading the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit Angler of the Year race and is in eighth place in the Bass Pro Tour Angler of the Year standings.

Fishing a multitude of lakes and rivers across the United States over an extended period requires detailed preparation and organization. For Michael Neal, the ability to find what he needs both on and off the water in an efficient manner can mean the difference between success and failure on the tournament trail.

“I have always relied on my Lure Lock boxes to keep my tackle organized and my lures protected in the boat,” stated Neal. “I use the same level of detail and organization in my truck as well. This allows me to efficiently prepare for a new body of water and spend more time on the water prior to a tournament.”

Three of Neal’s tackle organization tips are:

  1. Utilize the Lure Lock Deep Boxes as much as possible, often times you can put three regular size boxes in one Deep Box. This allows you to carry fewer individual boxes and reduces clutter in your boat or truck.
  2. Make sure each box is clearly labeled and organized to fit your style. Some folks will organize alphabetically, some by lure type. Whatever method you choose, take the time to keep your boxes organized. In the heat of the moment, you do not want to be spending time rummaging through boxes. From looking for different tackle boxes in the truck, to changing Lure Lock Boxes in the boat for the different lakes or simply being able to grab a Box in the boat, labeling and organization at the beginning of your trip will pay dividends in the end.
  3. Only carry what you need. Do not carry so much tackle that it becomes overwhelming. Even though I am fishing multiple tours this season, my tackle selection is smaller than it has ever been in terms of the number of different baits I carry. I find myself going to the same shapes sizes and colors every tournament, so I just carry more of them.

Utilize these tips as you continue fishing this summer and make the most of your time on the water.

The whole team at Lure Lock wishes the best of luck to Michael Neal as he continues his competitions on the Pro Circuit and Bass Pro Tour this season.
