Realtree Fishing Team Ready to Take On the Biggest Events

Columbus, Georgia -This month, bass fishing fans across the globe will follow two World Championship tournaments, as both the Major League Fishing REDCREST Championship and the Bassmaster Classic will take place in March.

As usual, the Realtree Fishing Team will be well represented. A star-studded group will take on REDCREST March 10-12, including Jacob Wheeler, undeniably today’s top competitive bass fisherman. Wheeler is a former back-to-back Angler of the Year, the youngest angler to win over $1 million bass fishing, and a former General Tire World Champion.

Joining Wheeler at REDCREST will be Mark Rose, Mark Daniels, Jr., former World Champ Casey Ashley, Adrian Avena and Dustin Connell. Connell, the 2021 Redcrest Champion, joins Wheeler as the only three-time event winner in a single season.

REDCREST will take place on Lake Norman, near Charlotte, North Carolina. A regular stop on many fishing circuits, Norman will be a familiar venue to some competitors. The fishing, however, is anything but ordinary. Lake Norman is host to a prolific population of both largemouth and spotted bass, and either could play a key role in the winner’s bag.

“It sets up the way I love to fish” reported Connell, a known spotted bass expert and threat to win any event in the nation.

Anglers have reported Lake Norman on an upward trend, with expectations for serious fish catches. Casey Ashley is a regular there, and predicts 15 pounds a day will be necessary to threaten for the win.

REDCREST features a catch-weigh-release format, but fans can still interact with the pros at the associated REDCREST Expo, where manufacturers of everything bass will be on-hand to display the newest gear. Big-name anglers will be circulating all weekend.

A few weeks later, the Bassmaster Classic will take to Knoxville March 24-26 and the nearby Tennessee River. Stetson Blaylock will be looking to redeem himself after a few recent near misses at this premier event. Blaylock placed third at the Classic in 2020 and again in 2022.

Joining Blaylock, Matt Arey is making his fourth consecutive Classic appearance, and has also felt the sting of a close finish after placing second in 2021; his best finish to date. A veteran competitor, Arey is a favorite to make a run at the title.

The team will take on a unique fishery, once thought to be a marginal, dingy-water largemouth location. Recent events, however, have unlocked a unique deep-water smallmouth factory dominated by 3-pound fish.

Anglers will no doubt have their choice of techniques to utilize on the Tennessee River, while the associated Bassmaster Classic Expo being held at the Knoxville Convention Center will blow fans away. There, the Realtree booth will be offering branded caps and gear. Daily tournament weigh-ins will take place at Thompson-Boling Arena on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

Big things are happening for bass fishing fans in March. Follow along as the Realtree Fishing Team makes a run for the titles. If you can’t attend, both events will have ample online broadcasts, bringing a front-row seat to the action.
