Are You Really Prepared to be a Successful Retailer?

If you are a typical fishing/sporting goods retailer, your motivations for being in business are principally driven by two factors: you love selling the category and you want to get rich in the process! Well, maybe not “filthy rich,” but at least make a generous return on your risk, time and efforts. 

This, of course, is admirable and fully consistent with the entrepreneurial spirit. But while you may aspire to becoming a retailing rock star making generous profits, you have got to ask yourself, “Am I prepared to do so? Do I in fact posses the skill sets necessary to reach my profitability aspirations?”
