ONTARIO, Calif. — Inshore environments may look different, but the demands remain the same. Hard fighting fish, tight structure, and long days on the water still require gear that won’t back down. The new Okuma DTR Custom B Inshore Rod Series carries forward its offshore roots, refined with the balance, responsiveness, and control needed for today’s inshore applications.

Okuma’s DTR rod series was inspired by the runs “down the road” in the unforgiving waters of Venice, Louisiana, where anglers push their gear to the limit, chasing powerful fish in some of the most demanding saltwater conditions in the country. That environment shaped a rod series built for strength, durability, and performance when it matters most. Now, building upon that legacy, Okuma is expanding the lineup with the new DTR Custom Inshore “B” Rod Series, bringing that same proven strength and confidence to inshore anglers across the Gulf Coast, Florida, and anywhere inshore species lurk.

The new rod series delivers refined balance, responsiveness, and control needed for today’s inshore applications. Built on advanced 24/30-ton carbon rod blanks, each rod delivers a responsive, connected feel while significantly increasing lifting power and overall strength. Updates to blank design, including increased tip diameter, result in a measurable gain in dead lift capability and an overall strength increase of 58.4 percent, giving anglers the confidence to stay aggressive when it matters most. Okuma’s Ultimate Flex Reinforced (UFR) rod tip technology further enhances durability in the upper section of the blank while maintaining a smooth, balanced flex profile.

Component selection throughout the series reflects a no-compromise approach to performance. Fuji K-Concept guide frames help minimize wind knots during repeated casting, while Fuji FazLite guide inserts provide smooth, reliable performance with braided lines. Guide sizing has been increased across the lineup to improve knot clearance and overall fishability. A blank-thru handle reel seat design enhances direct contact with the blank for better sensitivity, while spinning models feature a double locking nut for added security under heavy load.

Handle configurations are built for comfort and control in demanding conditions. Tapered TPE fore and rear split grips offer a modern, durable option with excellent grip, while select full grip models feature traditional cork fore and rear grips for a more classic in-hand feel.

“Guys who were fishing the DTR Customs offshore were telling us they wanted that same confidence in an inshore rod,” said John Bretza, VP of Product Development for Okuma Fishing. “That’s what sparked this whole project. This is the kind of rod you pick up and know you can fish hard with, no second guessing.”

The DTR Custom Inshore “B” series features eight core models built around proven inshore lengths and actions. Spinning rods are offered in 7’0” and 7’6” lengths in Medium Light, Medium, and Medium Heavy, giving anglers the range needed for lighter presentations, open water work, or fishing tight to cover. A 7’0” Medium Heavy casting model rounds out the lineup, providing added control and power for heavier applications. It’s a focused lineup designed to match the way inshore anglers actually fish day in and day out.

The Okuma DTR Custom Inshore “b” Rod Series is backed by a 3-year warranty.
