Nick Karas, Newsday Outdoors Columnist, Passes at 81

Nick Karas, book author and a full-time Newsday outdoors columnist from 1976 until 1997, died Aug. 13 at his home in Orient, NY. He was 81. Karas, who began his career out of college with True magazine and later bcame outdoors editor at Argosy, wrote more than 3,500 hunting and fishing columns for Newsday. He authored more than a dozen books, including “Brook Trout” and “Sight Fishing the Flats and Beyond.” Newsday.
