KVD Rockets from Zero to Hero with J300 Deep

La Crosse, Wis.– Kevin VanDam once again shows why he is arguably the greatest angler of all time.

This past weekend while competing in Major League Fishing’s General Tire Summit Cup in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Kevin catapulted from dead last to first in turn capturing his second Summit Cup Championship.

Despite being down by almost 28 pounds, KVD employed his newest weapon, the KVD J300 Deep in Crystal Shad, and changed the game. He preceded to catch 40 fish for a total of 74 pounds 9 ounces to win the event over second place finisher, and fellow Strike King teammate, Todd Faircloth.

The bait is new, but VanDam’s successful track record with jerkbaits is not. He won the 2005 Bassmaster Classic on Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers using a jerkbait, and is widely considered one of the best ever with the lure style. The J300 Deep was to be the Strike King team’s special weapon at the 2016 Classic on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake, but weather conditions thwarted the plan and turned the event into a contest better suited for dirty-water baits. Of course, KVD and the Strike King lineup are no slouches in that area, either, with their lineup of spinnerbaits, shallow-running crankbaits and jigs.
