Heroes on the Water Names New Executive Director

Dallas, TX — Heroes on the Water (HOW) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Pikna as Executive Director, effective August 2013. “We are thrilled that Bob will be leading our organization into the future,” said Jim Dolan, President and Founder. “Bob served as a HOW Director the past year and brings a wealth of business and organizational development skill and passion for our mission.”

Most recent to the Executive Director role, Bob led Biz Svcs, a revenue performance and business coaching practice. Prior to Biz Svcs, Bob served in a variety of national and international sales, business development and marketing leadership positions with several public and private companies. He has served as board member for several not-for-profit organizations. Bob is an Army artillery veteran and holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Dallas and a Bachelors of Science degree in applied science and engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He lives in Plano, TX with wife, Christine and son, Spencer.

Bob developed a passion for HOW after being introduced to the kayak fishing program at an outing in 2012. “Dee Elliott, HOW board member and fellow academy graduate, first invited my son and me to a DFW outing about a year ago. Pardon the pun but I was hooked. Given the amount of combat stress imposed on veterans and couple it with an incredibly challenging business economy, it’s easy to heed the call to give a hand. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our heroes and to do it through a very efficient and effective means of just going fishing.”

Hilanne Myers will continue to contribute her time and energy with HOW as Project Director, having fulfilled the Executive Director role during a formative year.
