AUSTIN, TEXAS–Hartwell Fishing Company’s designers leaned on 60 years of experience to create the new Rockport Fishing Shirt. The Rockport offers serious anglers a combination of fit, function and style that blows run-of-the-mill attire out of the water.
“When we set out to build the ultimate fishing shirt, we wanted to create a shirt we would love to wear fishing. We looked at the common problems not addressed by the market and found ways to solve them,” explains company co-founder Dustin Hindman.
Indeed, the Rockport is a study in comfort. Made of 100 percent ultra-soft premium polyester with advanced moisture-wicking capabilities, each side features BreezeRight Ventilation for air-cooled angling adventures, even in the hottest conditions. It also protects your skin, warding off harmful solar radiation with a 50 UPF sun protection rating.
The amenities don’t end there. Velcro WristGuards keep cuffs snug, preventing sleeves from scooping water and sending an annoying cascade up your arm each time you land a fish. The ability to fully adjust your cuffs also keeps your sleeve at the base of your wrist, rather than hanging down into the palm of your hand. The benefits continue when you roll up your sleeves, thanks to dual-button, CastHold Adjustable Sleeve Retainers. Positioned on the inside and outside of the arm, the retainers put an end to sleeves’ unsightly and infinitely irritating habit of unrolling while casting.
In another victory for performance and style, Hartwell reinforced the collar. Extra stiffness assures a stand-up look that blocks the sun from the back of your neck, prevents the collar from flapping in the wind and even holds its fashionable form during dinner after a long day on the water.
To aid angler efficiency, Hartwell improved pocket design and stitching to better manage and secure fishing accessories. The company also integrated a lanyard anchor point into its label for attaching a retractable tool holder, without poking holes in the fabric. Beneath it, a special pocket keeps your hemostat, nippers or other small accessory handy.
Such a perfect storm of high-performance features didn’t appear overnight. “We spent 18 months prototyping, testing and tweaking to get it right,” explains Hartwell co-founder Charles Lueker. “And it was worth it, because we believe the Rockport provides unmatched functionality and comfort.”
With a manufacturer’s suggested retail of $59, the Rockport Fishing Shirt is offered in adult sizes small through XXXL, in both Sky Blue and Pearl White. For full details, visit the site or call (512) 998-1422.
