Hall of Fame Legend Passes

Fishing Legend Ron Weber passed on September 28, after fighting lingering health issues, leaving behind a legacy the industry will never forget. Spending most of his career as a pioneer in the fishing industry, he first started as a sales rep for Pflueger, covering the Upper Midwest territory. Later in his life Ron made one of the most influential developments in the fishing industry when he formed his own company. The company later became known as the Normark Rapala Group. Ron’s love for the sport brought national attention to the Rapala fillet knife, Fiskars scissors and helped bring the Rapala lure to be made on a large scale.

Ron was honored and inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame, and most notably he was Knighted by the President of Finland. An avid angler and businessman, it is hard to believe what the tackle industry and fishing would be like without Ron’s influence. He will be greatly missed by all.
