Back in early 2020, professional angler and all-around good guy Aaron Martens underwent surgery to address a pair of brain tumors that had been discovered by his doctors. In the weeks and months that followed, he endured additional surgeries as well as radiation therapy in an attempt to battle and overcome the cancerous growths. Tragically, on November 5, 2021, after a long and courageous battle, Aaron Martens passed away at the age of 49.
When news of Aaron’s medical issues first became public, the fishing community came together to support one of its own, as it has always done, and more than $60,000 was raised to help Aaron and his family in their time of need. The outpouring of support, both monetarily and emotionally, was undoubtedly a tremendous help.
Now, following his passing, the Martens family needs your help, and a Celebration of Life and fundraiser has been launched to benefit Aaron’s wife and two children. The details on the event are as follows:
WON BASS and our anglers and industry partners have come together to create a day to celebrate the “LIFE” of our dear friend Aaron Martens. We are trying to raise funds that will be given to Leslie Martens to use as she sees fit for their family needs. We are trying to raise money to help her and the kids after the tragic loss of their beloved father and husband.
If you can not attend the December 18th “Celebration Of Life” gathering being held at Lake Casitas recreation area, then you can donate your $100 here! Donations of any size or denomination are welcome, but not required to attend. We would like to give this donation gift to Leslie at the event on December 18th, so please donate early. A portion of the donations will be used for expenses at the event, the remainder will 100% all go to the Martens family.
We will also be offering tickets for items that have been donated by sponsors to help raise additional funds. Your $100 donation includes one ticket. An additional $100 will get you 5 additional tickets. Tickets will be available on-site.
If you wish to donate product to the event. Please send to Western Outdoor News 1211 Puerta Del Sol, Suite 270, San Clemente CA 92673 before December 15th.
The event is scheduled from 12 noon until 6:00 PM. Food will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chair and blanket and spend the day with the family and friends of Aaron. We hope to have live music and festivities during the celebration.
Thank you for your support and help. It is greatly appreciated.
We here at Fishing Tackle Retailer extend our deepest condolences to the Martens family. Aaron touched the lives of many of us here at FTR in a positive way as he did to so many others both in the fishing industry and beyond.
