Daiwa TATULA Elite TW 100 — The Evolution of Casting Distance

DAIWA reveals the next generation TATULA Elite TW 100, packed with more technology than ever before.
FTR Industry Brief

The Daiwa TATULA Elite TW 100 is a baitcasting reel designed to maximize casting distance through evolutionary improvements. This reel represents Daiwa's advancement in casting technology, offering retailers a premium option for anglers seeking enhanced performance and longer casts. The TATULA Elite TW 100 builds on the proven TATULA line with features focused on distance casting capabilities.

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA – In the world of elite-level bass fishing, the difference between a legendary day and a quiet one often comes down to a matter of feet on the cast and inches on the fish. DAIWA announces the second generation of a legend: the TATULA Elite TW 100, a reel engineered for the angler who knows that reaching those extra yards is exactly what it takes to find the caliber of fish others simply can’t reach.

TATULA Elite was born from a singular focus on three performance pillars: distance, smoothness, and durability. While the original set the bar for the industry, the new TW 100 surpasses it. This second generation takes that foundational DNA and amplifies it, delivering a reel that casts further, runs smoother, and lasts longer than its legendary predecessor. In the pursuit of the perfect cast, DAIWA has officially moved the goalposts.

The Anatomy of the Cast

The soul of this new Elite-level reel lies in the Magforce-Z Boost Spool. By fine-tuning the magnetic braking system, DAIWA engineers have unlocked an additional 5 to 15 feet of distance on every cast. “While that might sound like a technical spec, on the water, it means covering more acreage, reaching pressured fish that haven’t seen a lure yet, and keeping a crankbait or ChatterBait in the strike zone longer than ever before,” said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin.

Power Meets Precision

Distance is nothing without the muscle to back it up. The TATULA Elite TW 100 incorporates DAIWA’s HYPERDRIVE Design, anchored by the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR system. “By utilizing a 3-point contact design, the reel achieves a level of buttery smoothness that persists even under the heavy resistance of high-vibration lures,” said Martin. “This expanded pressure distribution doesn’t just feel better; it significantly extends the life of the reel, ensuring it performs on day 500 just as it did on day one.”

Designed to be paired with a 7-foot or longer baitcasting rod to fully leverage its casting physics, the TATULA Elite TW 100 is built for the angler who treats every cast like a strategic move. And for those who live for the fight, DAIWA has incorporated the popular drag click sound—providing that audible feedback that turns a hookset into an experience.

Whether you are burning a ChatterBait over grass or cranking deep timber, the second-generation TATULA Elite TW 100 is more than a reel; it is an invitation to cast further than you ever thought possible.

TATULA Elite TW 100 FEATURES

LONG CAST (LC) CONCEPT

The aggregate of DAIWA spool design technologies to maximize casting distance and minimize backlash. The spool is designed with a specific taper that reduces line friction as it leaves the spool. For baitcasters like the TATULA Elite TW 100, it involves a lightweight, high-strength A7075 aluminum spool that has lower “start-up inertia”—meaning it takes less effort to get the spool spinning at high speeds. It also stays retracted longer than a standard spool, allowing the reel to run “wide open” for as long as possible before the brakes kick in. By using thinner, stronger walls, the spool is light enough to maintain high RPMs throughout the flight of the lure. The result is a lure that doesn’t stumble midair, maintaining a flat, consistent trajectory to claim those extra 5 to 15 feet of distance.

MAGFORCE-Z BOOST It’s like having an automatic transmission for your cast… At the moment of launch, the system provides maximum control to prevent backlashes when spool speeds are at their peak. But as the lure takes flight, the brakes intelligently “downshift,” stepping back to let the spool maintain its momentum. In the final seconds of the cast, the resistance vanishes entirely, allowing the lure to coast on a relaxed trajectory. This seamless transition is what adds to that critical distance followed by a soft landing.

HYPERDRIVE® ARMED HOUSING

A distortion-proof aluminum frame—a fortress for the reel’s internal mechanics. By utilizing a suite of advanced manufacturing techniques, DAIWA has created a housing that refuses to flex under heavy torque. This “zero-flex” foundation doesn’t just improve the immediate feel of the reel; it protects the precision alignment of the gear unit, significantly extending the life of the tool.

HYPERDRIVE® DIGIGEAR™

A re-engineered gear set that redefines efficiency. By utilizing larger teeth in the traction wheel and a unique three-point contact system—where most reels only offer two—DAIWA has virtually eliminated the “gear feel” often found in high-torque situations. This increased surface contact doesn’t just result in a silkier retrieve and reduced noise; it redistributes pressure so effectively that it significantly extends the operational life of the gear set.

HYPERDRIVE® TOUGH CLUTCH Whether you’re grinding through abrasive silt or pulling through thick vegetation, the refined mechanics ensure that the transition from free spool to engagement remains crisp and secure. It is a reinforced system designed to withstand the grit of the harshest environments, ensuring that “hard cast after hard cast,” the reel performs without hesitation.

T-WING SYSTEM (TWS)

Friction is the silent thief of distance. DAIWA’s exclusive T-Wing System (TWS) solves this with an innovative “T” shaped aperture that allows line to exit the spool with virtually zero resistance, eliminating the sharp angles that typically choke off a lure’s momentum. On the retrieve, the line drops into a precise groove for consistent, level winding.

ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT DRAG (UTD) In the critical moments following a strike, the Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD) provides the steady hand required to land heavyweight fish with total confidence. By combining carbon washers, alloy and stainless-steel plates, and a specialized high-performance lubricant, the UTD system eliminates the “stutter” or sticking that often leads to pulled hooks at the start of a fight. The result is a silky, unwavering pressure that remains stable from the initial surge to the side of the boat.
