Bass Pro Shops to Acquire Sportsman’s Warehouse

Four years after Bass Pro Shops announced plans to acquire it’s top rival, Cabela’s, the Springfield, Missouri-based company has reached an agreement in principal to purchase another competitor. This time, Sportsman’s Warehouse will fall under the banner of Johnny Morris and company.

According to a join press release issued by Sportsman’s Warehouse and Great American Outdoors Group—the parent company of Bass Pro Shops. Great American Outdoors Group will acquire the Utah-based big box retailer for $18.00 per share in a deal valued at around $800 million. The merger has already been unanimously approved by the Sportsman’s Warehouse Board of Directors.

Sportsman’s Warehouse operates 112 stores nationwide. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s operate 169 stores.

“We are excited to be joining the Great American Outdoors Group. This merger brings together the greatest brands in the outdoor industry.
